What better product to make a key
holder with than repurposed keys?!

How cute are these industrial-inspired patio lights
made with garbage can lids and mason jars?!
So ingenious - a wine bottle turned into
a contemporary wind chime.  Beautiful.

Believe it or not, this fire pit was made from a washing machine
drum.  Click here for instructions.  (The drum was purchased
from a used appliance repair store for only $10!)

Video gamers might quake at this project - repurposing a vintage
Nintendo NES controller and Zapper gun into a one-of-a-kind retro lamp.

Homestead Revival
This chicken coop might need increased
curb appeal but it is very clever.

Interesting use of bike parts, isn't it?

Darling use of vintage door knobs, isn't it?

How awesome are these globes
turned into lighting fixtures?

Look around your house.  I'll bet you'll find lots
of things that can have an alternative purpose.

  1. I just love the firepit idea ... have printed off the instructions and will be putting under my man's nose in the hope that he will give it a go!

    2. Sorry - I hit publish before I had finished my complete comment! Anyway, what I meant to post was that hubby and I have looked at fire pits at Lowe's and Home Depot and they're pretty expensive. This is definitely a much less expensive alternative and one we're considering. -- Jan

    1. I thought repurposing was awesome before I really knew what it was called. We always just referred to it as recycling but, now, that's called upcycling! Whatever you want to call it, reusing items and extending their work lives is a great way to keep waste out of landfills. It's so practical and financially smart, too! -- Jan

    1. When I saw the china plates that had been turned into clock I thought how great it would be to find a piece of my sister's day china and turn it into a clock for her. Yet another reason to browse thrift shops! -- Jan
