"I'm thinking of you, your interests, and your memories."

That's what today's gift ideas express.

What was your best friend's favorite childhood board game?
Ask them.  Then look online for an original edition of the game.
You might just turn a loved one into a vintage game collector.

We all know that you can find literally anything online.  Maybe
someone you know lost their senior high school year book?

A 1949 edition of The Night Before Christmas would make
a great addition to any holiday memorabilia collection.

Free shipping is offered on this lot of vintage books on puppetry and
marionettes.  Just imagine the many pages of frame-worthy illustrations.

My brother spent hours pouring over his Mad
magazine collection when he was a kid.

Guitarists (is that the proper word?) would love to have a reprint
of the 1955 patent illustration of a Les Paul design.

You don't have to be a horticulturist to appreciate this bargain: a lot of 12
vintage Mary Walcott botanical prints under $20 and the shipping is free.

Do you think that original art is beyond your budget?

A watercolor by D.N. Gillis of Albuquerque, NM,
ca 1980, is listed for $53 on Etsy.

Here's a clever twist - find a piece of art done by an artist with your family's last name.  It doesn't matter if you're related.  Makes a great party conversation piece.

The art of gift giving is a fascinating and complex subject.  It says as much about the giver as it does about the recipient.

  2. Artists with my last name will be hard to find. I like the idea though for who ever has a common last name like an artist.

  3. Nice ideas, all. And now I must go and look at Etsy again...I suspect it's grown a lot since I was last there!
